A strong drawback of this technology is the large percentage of water wasted for making this purified water. Also purified water can get again contaminated due to external factors
In RO purification system for drinking water, the RO membrane recovers good water to the extent of maximum 30%, remaining 70% constituting contaminants like excessive salts , microbes and colloidal particles is rejected down the drain
In a RO process the best recoveries recommended by the RO membrane manufacturers is 15%-20% from a single membrane.
If the operating recoveries are higher than recommended, the foulants such as salts, microbes and colloidal particles concentrate on the membrane surface and eventually foul or choke the membrane.
High Recovery RO Technology
An innovative HRR, High Recovery RO process (patent applied), specifically Water Saver Cartridge( WSC) releases ingredients that continuously sweep away the salts , kill the microbes and hence allows the process to be operated at high recovery levels.
Hence in the said HRR process, recovery is taken as 70 % from a single RO membrane, it also saves more than 80% of water compared to conventional RO purifiers. It gives high shelf life to product water. HRR is certified by an NABL accredited lab for chemical contaminant removal, pesticide removal, bacteria, virus removal, shelf life of product water, and for HRR claims.
