  1. How Pure is Your Drinking Water?

    Post by : Zerob

    Drinking Water<

    How pure is drinking water?
What is the composition of hydrogen in water?
What is the composition of oxygen in water?
    Is drinking water pure?
Does contaminants lead to bad smell?

Whether you are getting your drinking water from a municipal water supply or private well or any other source, each drinking water source may be at certain risk of contamination and its important that we know the cause of these contamination to help us in taking action in protecting ourselves and our family from the dangers posed.

Pure water consists of 11.1888% hydrogen and 88.812% oxygen by weight. The term “pure water” is being commonly used and over used though it is a virtually non-existent concept. Water is a “universal solvent” because of its ability to dissolve almost anything it comes in contact with. This property of water makes it easily prone to contamination by materials that are soluble in water.

When water contains harmful substances dissolved or suspended in it, it is considered to be “contaminated”. These contaminants can be minerals in the form of calcium, magnesium, iron and manganese due to water getting in contact with rocks containing these minerals. The corrosive nature of water also causes metals from pipes and plumbing fixtures to get dissolved in it. The water thus may contain metal contaminants like copper, iron, lead, etc. Apart from minerals and metals, water may also contain chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc in it as the water passes through long distribution network and consisting of industrial belts and sewer zones which may cause the water to get mixed with such compounds due to leakages in water pipes.

Municipal water can contain by-products of disinfectant that are formed when disinfectants such as chlorine or chloramines combine with naturally occurring organic matter. Some disinfection by-products are considered to be carcinogens as well. Still disinfectants cannot be avoided as water used without disinfecting can lead to sharp rise in waterborne diseases.

Though some of the contaminants mentioned above might lead to a foul smell or a salty taste, most of these contaminants discussed above are colorless, tasteless and odorless and can lead people in believing that the water that they are drinking is safe.

Contamination of water is a hard reality and the only way we can deal with it is by knowing the water that we drink. The more knowledge we have about the quality of our water, the more effectively we can protect ourselves against water borne diseases. So, its always safe to get a Water Test done in our home on regular intervals.

  3. Things to consider before buying an RO Water Purifier

    Post by : Zerob

    RO Water System

What are some things to consider before buying a RO Purifier?
    How does RO purifier work?
Are RO purifiers good in quality?
Does RO purifier require regular water?
What to look for in a RO Purifier?

Reverse Osmosis or RO Purifiers offer multi-stage filtration of water by combining active carbon and particle filtration.

In an RO Purifier, tap water is made to pass through a membrane that has extremely tiny pores to filter out the micro- organisms and other impurities present in water. These impurities collected are then flushed out through an outlet pipe.

This helps in removing harmful impurities present in tap water.

Two important points to consider before going for an RO Purifier is that it is a must for people living in regions where there is high content of dissolved minerals and chemicals. Also an RO Purifier requires a continuous supply of water to function and can be connected to only one water tap.

There are multiple brands in the market offering different types RO Water Purifiers from cheap to expensive ones. So how do you choose the right one for you? Always remember – Best quality RO filters and membranes are expensive. So don’t compromise on quality at the cost of your health.

Also remember to ask the following questions to the seller:
    1. Is the product you are buying accredited by a renowned institution such as NSF, WQA and FDA?
    2. How often the filter or membrane needs to be cleaned or changed?
    3. Warranty terms on the parts of the purifier and what is the frequency of maintenance services the company offers and whether they are chargeable 4. The speed of filtering. Always buy a purifier that has high rate of filtration 5. The capacity of the RO Water Purifier and whether that will be sufficient for the daily water demands of your family

    RO Water Purifiers

What are Eco Friendly RO Purifiers?
With what minerals is the water contaminated?
    How are eco purifiers better?
    Are ECO Water purifiers preferred?
Is the eco water technology completely pure?

With the increase in population of our country, the demand of water is increasing rapidly leading to a growing scarcity of water. This issue gets aggravated by the diminishing of the usable water resources. Ground water across the country is severely contaminated due to utter neglect by the civic authorities over decades and a lack of awareness, understanding or concern by the general populace. This has resulted in contamination of water with excess salinity, chemicals, metals and microbes. Drinking this water with such chemical, biological and physical impurities can cause long term and at times irreversible health damages. Studies suggest that over 70% of the ailments faced by us is caused by poor quality of water. Hence advanced technological intervention becomes inevitable in treating the contaminated water and making it fit for drinking. Of all the technologies available in treating water, the RO or Reverse Osmosis technology has proven to be a real boon for purifying domestic water supply.
The advanced types of RO Water Purifiers currently available for usage in homes can help eliminate unnecessary salts, physical and chemical impurities, heavy metals and microbial contaminants from water and making it fit for human consumption.
The advanced RO Water Purifiers currently comes powered with eco-friendly technology which helps in reducing water wastage during the RO Purification process thus leading to a huge saving of this scarce commodity.

  5. Why Reverse Osmosis or RO Purifiers are considered the Best filters

    Post by : Zerob

Why are RO Purifiers the best?
    What is the RO process?
Does the RO processgive optimum results?
Are RO Purifiers superior to others?
What are the benefits of RO purifiers?

One of the most successfully tried and tested water purification process is the reverse osmosis process.

The integral part of a Reverse Osmosis purifier is a special membrane which is more often than not used alongside an active carbon filter. Sometimes an additional sediment filter is also used to bolster the purification process in a Reverse Osmosis purifier.

The “reverse osmosis” process in a RO Water Purifier relates to an extremely fine filtering process in which water is pushed through a semi-permeable membrane at high pressure. The pores of this very special membrane are so fine that it practically only water, i.e. the H2O molecules, can get through the membrane. All other molecules that are larger gets physically blocked and cannot reach the purified water.
The Reverse osmosis process thus separates the supplied water in this manner into two components: the PURE water (known as “permeate”) and the EXCESS tap water (known as “concentrate”).

The latter contains all those substances that could not get through the fine pores of the membrane. Reverse osmosis process used in RO Purifiers achieves an optimum purifying effect that cannot be surpassed by any other filtration systems available today.

  6. Does RO Purfier remove useful Minerals along with Viruses?

    Post by : Zerob

    Water filtration system

    Does RO Purifier remove minerals?
Does the RO membrane remove all micro organisms?
Does RO Purifier remove minerals and also viruses?
Do the membranes remove all bacteria?
Does reduction in mineral affect the quality of water?

The advanced types of RO Purifiers remove all objectionable minerals and chemicals from water which are responsible for the bad odor and taste as well as salty & metallic taste of water.

Though the RO Purifier also reduces the mineral content in water, but this reduction in mineral content does not in anyway affect the quality of Purified Water. This is because the mineral content in water is much less than the mineral found in food. Minerals required by our body are derived mainly from food and less from water. For example, a glass of milk contains more minerals than 20 liters of drinking water. Hence, low mineral content has no effects on general health.

RO Water purifiers offer the option of a taste correction cartridge for low TDS water. Taste correction cartridge can be installed along with RO purifiers to enhance the taste of the purified water

Drinking water standards like USEPA, IS: 10500 have not set the lower limit of TDS (mineral salts) in water.

Moreover as far as bacteria & viruses present in water goes, the advanced types of RO Purifiers like the ZeroB RO Purifiers have membranes with a pore size of 0.0001 micron, which is much smaller than the bacteria virus, pyrogen or the cryptosporidium parasite.
Hence the membranes in such RO Purifiers is capable of removing all microorganisms which can be potentially dangerous for our health.
