  1. How to reduce the problems caused by Hard Water

    Post by : Zerob

How to reduce hard water problems?
How to minimize health hazards of hard water?
How to ensure safety from hard water?
Will water softeners require regular sodium replacement?
    How are resins coated?

Water softeners use salt and ion-exchange resins to remove calcium and magnesium from the water.

These resins are coated in a sodium solution and when hard water comes into contact with the resin beads, the calcium and magnesium ions migrate out of the solution to the active sites on the resin and are replaced in the solution by sodium ions.

While these systems will require regular weekly sodium replacement, they do also deliver the best overall scale removal performance.

These water softeners reduce the scale buildup and provide you with better overall water quality.

    Should you avoid bottled water?
What is the reason to avoid bottled water?
Is plastic leaching caused in bottled water?
How is the quality of water in bottled water?

    1. Plastic Leaching:
Plastic Bottles can leach harmful plastic chemicals and hormone disruptors into the water.
    2. Harmful Bacteria: In a survey 70% of the bottled water brands tested had high levels of heterotrophic bacteria, which can be pathogenic and cause infectious diseases like E. coli.

    3. Quality of Water: bottled water taste and quality can range from very good to very bad depending on the brand, and that is a serious problem
    4. Too Expensive: Bottled water can cost 100 times more than tap water.
    5. Environmental Pollution: Bottled water contributes a great deal towards environmental pollution.

Get rid of the plastic water bottle for a BPA-free stainless steel bottle and fill it up with fresh and pure water from a water purifier.

  3. How safe is Bottled Water?

    Post by : Zerob

    Is bottled water safe?
How to ensure safety inside bottled water?
What is the percentage of bisphenol left in bottles?
Does plastic leaching increase with age and heat?
    What does BPA result in?

Bottled water runs the biggest risk of contamination due to Plastic Chemicals. Most small bottled waters are made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which can release harmful plastic chemicals and hormone disruptors into the water. Larger bottled waters used in offices and industries are equally worse.
Studies have revealed that 80% of large bottles left dangerous traces of endocrine disruptor Bisphenol A (BPA) in water.
BPA has been linked to breast cancer, prostrate cancer and diabetes as well as reproductive disorders.

Over and above that plastic leaching increases with age and heat. So storing bottled water makes the water more toxic and dangerous.

    Water Contain Medical Drugs

    Is drinking water drugged?
Does drinking water have any medical drugs?
How much medical drugs does drinking water contain?
What are some pharmaceuticals found in water?
Can home purification remove medication levels in water?

Tiny amounts of pharmaceuticals – including antibiotics, hormones, mood stabilizers, and other drugs have been found in our drinking water supplies.

Studies have revealed that pharmaceuticals, especially oral contraceptives, are found in sewage water and are potentially contaminating drinking water.

Although the contamination is low still researchers cannot rule out the possibility of harmful effects of this and declare such water safe for consumption. When it comes to pharmaceuticals, some drugs especially synthetic hormones work at very low concentrations in the human body.

Home purification systems such as reverse osmosis filtration can reduce the medication levels in Water.

  6. Hardness of Water can be Temporary or Permanent

    Post by : Zerob

Is hardness of water temporary or permanent?
How to measure hardness of water?
    Does ground water become hard?
What are the sources of hard water?
What are some minerals found in hard water?

    Carbonate Hardness of Water

Temporary hardness or Carbonate hardness of water is caused by the metals combined with the presence of alkaline compounds such as carbonate, bicarbonate, hydroxide. Carbonate hardness is sometimes called temporary hardness because it can be removed by boiling water.

In contrast, non-carbonate hardness forms when metals combine with anything other than alkalinity. Non-carbonate hardness cannot be broken down by boiling the water, so it is also known as permanent hardness.

Groundwater becomes hard as it percolates through minerals containing calcium or magnesium.

The most common sources of hardness are limestone (which introduces calcium into water) and dolomite (which introduces magnesium). Since, hardness enters the water in this manner groundwater generally has a greater hardness than surface water. So in places where the reliance of water is mainly from ground water sources, we tend to experience hardness of water.

It is important to distinguish between the two types of hardness because the removal method differs for the two.

Total hardness includes both temporary and permanent hardness caused by the calcium and magnesium, on the basis of which water is categorized as soft or hard or very hard.

    Can Hard Water be Harmful

    Can hard water be harmful?
How harmful is hard water for our health?
What is the biggest objective of drinking water?
How important is the ratio of calcium and magnesium in water?
Are cardiovascular problems cause dues to hard water?

Water is essential for life but are we consuming the water that is pure and safe for our body?

The drinking water supply has a primary objective of ensuring access to safe water and thereby protecting our health. It is estimated that only about half of the world’s population uses water from some sort of centralized system like the municipal water supply. A small percentage of this population uses some form of water treatment in their homes.

However, a good percentage of the population consumes hard water, which is considered to be a significant cause of diseases such as cardiovascular problems, diabetes, reproductive failure, neural diseases, and renal dysfunction and so on.

The ratio of calcium and magnesium in water is a crucial factor indicating the hardness and in the cause of health related problems.

How to eliminate fluoride contamination in water?
    Is fluoride inside water harmful?
What is the best way to get rid of fluoride?
Do we test for fluoride inside water?

Water Fluoridation or the practice of adding fluoride to drinking water supplies though may be successful in killing micro organisms in water but in general the fluoridation of the water can lead to numerous critical health issues. Hence Defluoridation of water is a must where the supply municipal water goes through a process of fluoridation.

The best way to treat water and get rid of the fluoride present in water is subjecting it to the process of Reverse Osmosis. This has been proven to be the most successful purification process in cases of fluoride contamination.

There are various water purifiers in the market claiming to remove fluoride, but one needs to be very careful while choosing the right water purfier. In the first place the water needs to be tested to assess the presence of fluoride contamination then accordingly the RO water purifier needs to be selected. Learn more about the water purifiers that can help remove fluoride from water.

    Defluoridation of Water

    Why defluorination is necessary?
    Is defluorination necessary?
What are the most common defluorinated compounds?
    Where are perforated compounds found?
Is hypertension linked to fluorides I water?

Most Tap water contains impurities ranging from disinfection byproducts, chemicals, pharmaceutical drugs, heavy metals and also radiation. Fluoride that is being added to municipal water supplies is causing more harm than good. Fluoride is ineffective in preventing tooth decay. On the contrary it bioaccumulates in the body and acts as a toxic poison. Humans are getting so much exposed to Fluoride contamination through water that Prefluorinated compounds are now being found in tests carried out on people.

Two of the most common perfluorinated compounds, PFOS and PFOA, found in municipal water supply have been detected in the blood samples of majority of people who had undergone the tests

Scientists are of the opinion that there is a ‘probable link’ between PFOA in drinking water and high cholesterol, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, testicular cancer, kidney cancer and pregnancy-induced hypertension.

Hence water purifiers which has the capability of removing fluorides from water needs to be used to prevent such deadly diseases.

Know more about water purifiers that can remove these chemical contaminants.
