  1. How much of a concern environmental water quality really is?

    Post by : Zerob

Is the water we drink safe?
How is the quality of the water we drink?
Is the water we drink contaminated?
Does tap water need to be tested?
How are the sources of water affected?
Water contamination is the leading cause of death and diseases, worldwide. It is affecting about 1 billion people everyday in the developing countries like India, where the problem is much more acute. Most of the sources of water are affected starting from the lakes, rivers, underground water reserves due to industrial dumping, agricultural by-products and human and animal wastes.

These contaminated water sources also are a source of our seafood, our physical activities, and also from where our tap water is drawn.

Though we treat tap water but still it may carry contaminants like heavy metals, chemicals, microbes, and pharmaceuticals drugs.

People using tap or well water will be exposed to these contaminants on a daily basis at varying levels. These contaminants tend to cause long term health problems.

So, the tap water reaching your home or office needs to be tested and adequately purified before consumption.

    Old Filtration Methods

Why do you need new filtration methods?
Does old filtration method work anymore?
What is the difference between old and the new filtration methods?
What are the drawbacks of filtration method?
What are the chemicals used to purify water?

With the increase in environmental pollution, the contamination of water has also increased manifolds.

Hence old filtration methods can no longer produce safest drinking water. We need more intense purification methods to counter the contaminants present in our supply water.

The two most prevalent being boiling and chemical. Although effective in ridding water of some substance, these methods still leave behind harmful materials in the water.

Traditionally, boiling has been used to disinfect water from microorganisms. In fact, when done correctly, it can kill most bacteria, but not all.

The drawbacks to this filtration method:
    • it consumes lots of fuel.
    • water cannot be used immediately, as it needs to cool down.
    • Loss of water due to evaporatation.
    • The water can still contain particles. So further filtering becomes necessary.

There are two primary chemicals used to purify water: iodine and chlorine.

Both are lightweight, low cost and easy to use. Iodine has been proven effective in killing off viruses, bacteria and protozoa. However, the colder the water is, the more time it will take to purify with iodine. Iodine can also absorb into the dirt and debris naturally found in water, so the dosage will always vary.

Also, pregnant women or those with thyroid conditions should not drink water with the chemical.

Chlorine is very poisonous and adding too much can cause illness, internal organ damage or even death. Chlorine has been linked to many health problems.

Seeing the drawbacks of these traditional filtration methods brings us to understand why more advanced water purification are required nowadays.

Seeing the drawbacks of these traditional filtration methods brings us to understand why more advanced water purification are required nowadays.

    Which water is safe?
How can we make water consumption safe?
Is water from rivers good to drink?
Which are the different sources of water?
    Does glaciers have contaminated water?
    Naturally Available Water Sources

Researches and studies have revealed that most of the natural sources of water are not safe for drinking due to large scale industrialization and due to unplanned urbanization.

All sources of our drinking water like the wells, lakes, rivers, municipal water reservoirs, glaciers contain some or other contamination. These contaminants vary from naturally occurring minerals to man-made chemicals and their by-products.

Though most of these contaminants may not cause immediate problems with our health, but many of these contaminants can, over a period of time give rise to serious health issues.

Even the chemicals like chlorine and fluoride used to treat municipal water supplies can cause significant adverse effects on the human body.

    Impure Water Cause Cancer

Does drinking impure water cause cancer?
What are the extreme diseases caused by harmful water?
What does chlorine in water produce?
What does presence of Trihalomethanes in water cause?
What is the largest source of human exposure?

People across the globe are now waking up to the reality of the links between cancer and the chemical contamination of their drinking water.

Does drinking impure water cause cancer?
If you are drinking municipal water or drinking from an underground well water, cancer causing contaminants and additives would probably be present in your drinking water.

Some of the chemicals added to municipal water or bore-well water to disinfect can actually be contributing to the incidences of cancer. Studies have revealed that chlorine and fluoride contamination at high levels could cause cancer.

Chlorine, most commonly used to disinfect water, reacts with organic material, like bacteria present in water to produce Trihalomethanes (THMs).

Presence of Trihalomethanes in water leads to incidences of rectal, bladder and pancreatic cancer.

What is the largest source of human exposure?
The largest source of human exposure to THMs is through the consumption of chlorinated drinking water.

Fluoride is the another chemical which is considered now to be the genetic cause of cancer. Fluoride could be the cause of cancers affecting the mouth, pharynx, colon and rectum. Also Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, is linked to fluoride.

So use an advance d RO Water Purifier like the ECO RO that can effectively prevent cancer.

    How to identify water disinfectants?
    Can disinfectants cause birth defects?
Does disinfectants water not fit for human consumption?
How to purify the disinfectants in water?

Oftentimes we drink water from the public supply because we know that the water is disinfected by chemicals and is safe for consuming.

However this disinfected water may not be fit for human consumption. Water disinfected by chemicals or other substances like chlorine can actually be extremely dangerous for your health.

When water is disinfected by adding substances like chlorine, it creates cancer-causing toxic by-products due to its reaction with organic materials present in water. These by-products are known as DBPs.

Some of these by-products are toxic, some can cause birth defects, some are genotoxic – meaning these can damage DNA and some can also cause cancer.

Due to the generation of such dangerous by-products, we need to purify the supply water by the help of an RO purifier. An RO Purifier can remove the chemical impurities present in the supply water and make it fully safe for drinking.

So beware of disinfected water. Always drink Purifier Water.

    Water Treatment Systems

How to get pure water from each liter?
How to ensure we make the water pure?
How to make drinking water more pure?
How much of incoming water is purified in conventional purifiers?
How much of incoming water is purified in Zero B Eco purifiers?

Conventional RO water purifiers waste a lot of water to give us pure drinking water. To generate 5 litres of pure drinking water, almost 15 – 20 litres of water is required.

So in a conventional RO Water Purifier only 25 – 30 % of the incoming water gets converted to pure water. The remaining impure water gets rejected by the RO Purifier. It means that conventional RO Water Purifiers waste around 75-80% of water.
This is a huge waste considering the kind of water scarcity we face these days.

This issue of water wastage gets tackled by the Eco-friendly Zero B ECO RO Purifier.

In this RO Purifier, to generate 5 litres of Pure drinking water, only 7 to 8 litres of input water is required. This means that the Zero B ECO RO recovers around 70-75% of the incoming water and only a very small fraction of water – that is around 20% is rejected as waste.

This quality of Zero B ECO RO Water Purifier is one of the most unique properties of this RO Water Purifier and making it an ECO-FRIENDLY Water Purifier.
